Indian equity markets extended losses from the previous session, with the Nifty closing below 23,550.
Despite mixed global cues, benchmark indices opened flat but soon came under selling pressure.
Bears dominated the session, dragging the Nifty near 23,500 intraday before a weak close near the day’s low.
Sector-wise performance was largely negative, with all sectors ending in the red except FMCG.
Notable losers included capital goods, IT, metal, oil & gas, PSU banks, power, and realty, which declined by 1-2%.
