Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin

One of the ambitious schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.’ Earlier the name of the scheme was Indira Awas Yojana. The objective of this scheme is to provide homes to homeless people who are below the poverty line. Many rural people have also taken advantage of this (Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana 2021). In September last year, in the State of Madhya Pradesh, the government had inaugurated 1.75 lakh houses built under this scheme. Its benefit is available to those who apply under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

For enjoying the benefit of this scheme, it is necessary to have an Aadhar card. At the same time, to apply offline, you have to go to the Common Service Center. There you will get a form, which will have to be filled out and submitted. Its cost is around 25 rupees.

Today, many citizens in the country cannot build their own houses and get the old house repaired due to their weak financial condition. Therefore, the Central Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana for all such citizens. PM Gramin Awas scheme was launched by the Prime Minister of our country Shri Narendra Modi Ji, in 2015. Through the Rural Housing Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the citizens of rural areas to get the house repaired and build a house. This financial assistance is ₹ 120000 for equivalent land and ₹ 130000 for hilly areas. 

Purpose of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana

People from economically weaker sections live in our country’s rural areas and want to build their own houses. But the economic condition could not be the reason for the same. So now, under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2022, the people of the weaker sections of the rural areas are getting financial assistance from the Government of India to build their own houses and make the dream of poor people come true. Along with this, the government will assist with the financial aid of Rs 12000 for building a toilet. The scheme will help in eradicating poverty.

Features of Rural Housing Scheme under PM Gramin Awas Yojana 2022

-Under this scheme, people will get financial assistance to construct 1 crore houses.

Under the Rural Housing Scheme 2022, the space for housing construction will be increased from 20 square meters to 25 square meters, including the kitchen area.

-Under this scheme, the unit assistance in plain areas is Rs. 1.20 lakh, and in hilly areas, the unit assistance is Rs. 1.30 lakh.

-The total cost of this scheme is Rs 1,30 075 crore, borne by the Central Government and the State Governments in the ratio of 60:40.

-The family falling under rural areas is done through SECC 2011 data.

-The classification of difficult areas in a state will have to be done by the state governments. Such classification shall be done based on the existing classification in the State under any other provision and using the criteria-based methodology.

-Himachal State – Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will also be included.

Eligibility of PM Gramin Awas Yojana 2022

-The applicant must be an Indian resident.

Under PM Gramin Awas Yojana 2022, such families in which there should not be any adult member between the age of 16 to 59 years.

-Female-headed households in which there should not be any adult member between the age of 16 to 59 years.

-Families in which there should not be any literate adult member above the age of 25 years.

The government pays attention to Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011, i.e., the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011, to identify the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In addition, the government involves tehsils and panchayats to decide the final list.

Benefits of PMAY-G

In PMAY-G, you can take a loan of Rs 6 lakh at an interest rate of up to 6.5 percent per annum. The minimum size of the house should be 25 square meters with all basic amenities such as electricity supply and clean cooking space. CLSS or Credit Linked Subsidy is given under this scheme. If you need more than this amount to build a house, you will have to take a loan on that extra amount at a simple interest rate.
