Diwali is an auspicious festival that is also considered the start of a new trading year. So, BSE & NSE have this long-standing tradition of having a special trading session called Muhurat Trading on the day of Lakshmi Pujan during Diwali.
Timings and other details for Muhurat trading 2022
The timings for Muhurat Trading on the NSE and BSE are announced by the respective exchanges ahead of the trading period. The current Muhurat Trading is to be done on 24th October 2022 and the timings for the same are as below
The trading period for Muhurat Trading will begin at 6.00 PM and will continue for an hour. The trading schedule on NSE & BSE are

On account of the Diwali holiday on 24th and 26th Oct’22, keep the following in mind:
- All intraday positions will be squared off 15 minutes before markets close, that is at 7:00 PM.
- Any equity securities purchased on Friday, 21st Oct’22, cannot be sold on Monday, 24th Oct’22 (during Muhurat trading hours) as the settlement for both these days will take place on Thursday, 27th Oct’22.
- All equity trade placed during Muhurat trading on Monday, 24th Oct’22, will get settled on Thursday, 27th Oct’22.
- All trades placed on Friday, 21st Oct’22 in the Derivative segment will be settled on Tuesday, 25 Oct’22.
- On account of bank holiday, any withdrawal request placed on 21st Oct’22, 22nd Oct’22, 23rd Oct’22 and 24th Oct’22 will be processed on 25th Oct’22 subject to availability of sufficient funds in your trading ledger.
