The government has made many attractive schemes to strengthen the villages and develop the urban area. The government is bringing many plans to increase farmers’ income and provide employment in towns and cities.
The government encourages farmers and rural landless labourers and unemployed to take them towards self-employment. For this, the government also provides attractive loan facilities for the people of rural areas. A unique scheme for farmers has been introduced to give easy loans to start animal husbandry and related industries. It is called Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme-2021 or PM Dairy Loan Scheme. The main objective of this scheme is to encourage by arranging loans etc., to open dairy and do other related works.
How to avail of the scheme?
Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme-Under 2021, the government gives easy loans and subsidies to the unemployed to start works like animal husbandry, milk production, other milk products, dairy parlours, milk cold storage, vermicompost. By taking advantage of this, farmers and the unemployed can start their businesses and strengthen their economic condition.
How much loan is available in this scheme?
Under the PM Dairy Loan Scheme, any farmer can take a loan of up to Rs 20 lakh. Urban and rural applicants can get easy loans by applying under this scheme and earn good money by opening a dairy and starting a milk and milk products business.
The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India, started the capital scheme for starting a small dairy industry and poultry farm in 2005. In 2010, the scheme’s name became Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme. In addition, some of its provisions were also changed.
Objectives of Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme
The main objective of this scheme is to increase the income of farmers in the villages and encourage the opening of dairies in the city. The purpose of the government is to give the double benefit of this scheme. The first is to employ the unemployed youth. The second is to make clean, pure and nutritious milk and milk products available in sufficient quantities to all consumers. The main objective is to establish modern dairy farms through this scheme.
Extraordinary things before taking a loan from the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme
The applicant should, first of all, consider which business he wants to start related to the dairy industry and how much loan you need for that.
Meaning to say, make a business plan before taking a loan if you want to open dairy, wish to open a milk production centre, want to open a milk sales centre, want to open a dairy parlour, want to start milk cold storage or any other business
Do thorough planning about that business. Then, make a good strategy to run that business. After that, think about how much loan you need for your business. Then, take the amount such that you can repay the loan soon.
When you decide to take a loan, you go through all the necessary documents and collect all the documents. Then, apply for the loan when all the records are gathered. If you do not have the required documents, the loan process will get hampered. Sometimes the loan application may get rejected. Therefore, do not take any risk while taking a loan.
Key features of the Scheme
The person taking a loan through PM Dairy Loan, i.e. The Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme, should check the eligibility of this scheme. Because under this scheme, the criteria have been set by the government for the eligible person. Business-wise loans are given to a person who meets these criteria. In this scheme, some special rules have been made for the borrowers, which are as follows:-
The person’s age applying under Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme-2021 should be more than 18 years and less than 65 years.
Under this scheme, the loan is given to purchase two to 10 animals for animal husbandry. You can take loans for cows and buffalo of the milch breed in animals. You can choose more milk yielding cows like Sahiwal, Gir, Rathi, Red Sindhi, and Jersey. Similarly, you have to select the buffaloes that give more milk.
You can also get a loan for a dairy product business under PM Dairy Loan. In addition, you can also take a loan through this scheme to buy milk processing equipment.
You can also get a loan under this scheme for projects like a dairy parlour, cold milk storage, and vermicompost.
However, the applicant will have to invest 10 per cent of the total amount of his business project.
The government has put conditions regarding the subsidy received for animal husbandry. If you have taken a loan for animal husbandry, you will have to complete the work of animal husbandry after two years of taking the loan. Then you will get a subsidy. If this work takes more than two years, you will not get the grant.
Under the PM Dairy Loan Scheme, you can take applicant loans from commercial banks, regional rural banks, state cooperative banks, state cooperative agriculture and rural development banks. If you have a bank account with any National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, you can get a loan.
