Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi( PM-KISAN)

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a new Central Sector Scheme that will provide income support to all landholding farmer families in the nation to supplement their funding requirements for purchasing agricultural and allied inputs, as well as household requirements.

Eligibility

The benefits under this scheme are available to all land-owning eligible farmer families (subject to the applicable exclusion criteria).

The following factors of higher-income beneficiaries will not be eligible for benefits under the scheme.

  1. All landowners who are institutional.
  2. Farmer families with one or more members from the following categories
  1. Former and current constitutional officeholders
  2. Former and current Ministers/State Ministers, as well as former/present Members of LokSabha/ RajyaSabha/ State Legislative Assemblies/ State Legislative Councils, former and present Mayors of Municipal Corporations, and former and present District Panchayat Chairpersons
  3. All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government Ministries/Offices/Departments and their field units, Central or State PSEs and Attached offices/Autonomous Institutions under Administration, as well as regular employees of Local Bodies (Except Multi Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D staff members)
  4. All superannuated/retired pensioners of the above category whose monthly pension is Rs.10,000/- or more (excluding Multi Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees).
  5. All individuals who paid income tax in the previous assessment year Professionals such as Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects who are registered with professional bodies and carry out their profession by carrying out practices

Benefits

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, all landholding farmer families will receive a financial benefit of Rs. 6000 per year, payable in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each every 4 months.

  1. One of the most significant advantages of this scheme is the direct transfer of funds. On December 25, 2020, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rs.18,000 crores were transferred directly to the bank accounts of 9 crore farmers.
  2. All farmer records are officially registered on a digital platform, making registration and fund transfer simple. This welfare scheme has gotten a fresh start thanks to the digitization of records.
  3. Farmers’ liquidity constraints are alleviated by this scheme.
  4. The PM-KISAN Yojana is a significant step forward in the Government’s agricultural modernization initiatives.
  5. There is no discrimination in the selection of PM-KISAN recipients.

How to Use

The registration deadline for the Pardhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been extended until September 30, 2022. Farm owners who are eligible but have not yet registered for the scheme can do so by visiting the relevant portal. Piyush Goyal announced the scheme on February 1, 2019, during India’s 2019 Interim Union Budget. Since the scheme’s inception, lakhs of eligible farmers have reaped its benefits. The initiative was launched by the Indian government to assist farmers financially; the scheme is similar to the Government of India’s minimum income support. The Pardhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was inspired by the Rythu Bandhu scheme, which is operated by the Government of Tamil Nadu. As previously stated, the scheme was launched on February 1, 2022, and an amount of Rs. 20,000 crore was allotted in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for the fiscal year 2018-19, with an additional 2 crore eligible farmers benefiting from it in the fiscal year 2019-20.

To register for the Pardhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, also known as PM Kisan, you must carefully follow the following step-by-step procedure. Only then will you be able to register or apply for the scheme.

Note: After applying for the PM Kisan, you must scan the required documents in order to upload them at the time of registration.

  1. To qualify for the PM Kisan Scheme, go to the online webpage of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which is @pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. After visiting the official website, you will notice a New Farmer Registration tab on the homepage; click on it.
  3. After selecting the aforementioned option, you will be redirected to another page where you will be asked to select a farmer type, choose Rural Farmer Registration if you live in a rural area, or Urban Farmer Registration if you live in an urban area.
  4. After selecting the aforementioned option, enter the required credentials and tap the Send OTP button.
  5. After tapping on the above-mentioned, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number; enter the OTP and continue with the registration.
  6. On the next page, you may be asked to fill out more information, enter these credentials, and upload the required documents before finalizing the application.

Note: Don’t forget to download and print the application after you’ve finished it.

To be qualified for the PM Kisan scheme, an eligible farmer must have documents such as a citizenship certificate, landholding papers, an Aadhaar card, and bank account details.

Credit Card PM KISAN

In 1988, the government launched the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, which provides farmers with timely access to credit. The KCC scheme aimed to provide farmers with short-term formal credit. The KCC has been linked to the PM KISAN scheme by the government.

The PM KISAN plan is now linked to the PM Kisan Credit Cards. Beneficiaries of PM KISAN can apply for KCC cards, which allow them to obtain low-interest short-term loans. The successfully provided to farm owners through the KCC card provide them with a credit limit to purchase equipment as well as cover other expenses.

The PM KISAN credit card has the following features:

  1. Loans are made available at low interest rates ranging from 2% to 4%.
  2. Collateral-free loans of up to Rs.3 lakh are available.
  3. Crop insurance is built in.
  4. Loan repayment options are flexible.

Beneficiaries of the PM KISAN scheme can apply for PM KISAN credit cards by following the steps outlined below:

  1. Navigate to the PM KISAN portal.
  2. Scroll down to the ‘Framers Corner’ section and select the ‘Download KCC Form’ option.
  3. The ‘Loan Application Form for Agricultural Credit for PM KISAN Beneficiaries’ will be made available. This form must be downloaded by the farmers.
  4. Fill out the form completely. To apply for KCC cards, farmers must fill out the form and select the option ‘Issue of fresh KCC’ under the option ‘B’ section.
  5. Once completed, the form, along with the required documents, must be submitted to the farmer’s bank.
  6. The bank will process the request and issue the farmer with the KCC card.

Beneficiaries can also go to the bank’s website where they want to apply for a PM KISAN credit card, fill out the application form for the KCC card, and submit it online. The bank will process the application and issue the KCC card to PM KISAN recipients.
