On 15th November 2016, a scheme named The Har Ghar Bijli Lagatar came into existence, which Shri launched. Nitish Kumar, the CM of Bihar. The Saat Nishchay scheme portfolio was designed by the Bihar government in which this was the last scheme planned. It focused on providing electricity connection in each house of Bihar. The government of Bihar had asked various agencies to implement this scheme priority.
Those who need the scheme’s benefit can connect with the implementing agency, which is different at the district and state levels. There are urban local bodies at the state level, whereas, at the district level, there are Gram Panchayats. The implementation of the scheme was done in 2016.
Under this Har Ghar Bijli Lagatar scheme, those applying for the facility will not have to pay any fee for the connection. But, they will have to pay the monthly electricity bill as it is the consumption amount. People who are not ready for the relationship need to submit a written application.
The scheme comes to give free electricity to the rural and urban households in Bihar. Those houses that do not have electricity provision will benefit from this scheme. Around 50 lakh households will be served under this scheme. 50% of the families above the poverty line situated in rural Bihar will be covered under this scheme.
The Har Ghar Bijli Lagatar scheme was first initiated for BPL cardholders, and the turn of APL cardholders came. The idea was to provide electricity to houses both in the village and cities.
With the help of this scheme, around 39,073 villages were provided electricity connections. By April 2018, around 1.06 lakh rural habitations were benefited from this scheme. This also included 1.19 crore households.
