Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines to merge Air India and Vistara by March 2024

The merger will make Air India the country's leading domestic and international carrier with a fleet size of 218 aircrafts.

Air India and Vistara are both Tata owned. Both are full-service carriers with similar fleet.

After the merger, Singarpore Airline's stake will change from 49% in Vistara to 25.1% in enlarged Air India Group.

Singapore Airlines will infuse Rs 2,058 crores in Air India as part of this merger deal.

Together, Vistara and Air India command a market share of 18%. The merger may help Air India reach 30% market share.
