NPS vs Old Pension Scheme(OPS)- Points you should be aware of

The states of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh recently announced that for the year 2022-2023, the OPS or old pension scheme will be restored for government employees. With the old pension scheme, one can enjoy assured income post-retirement. This is why many government employees across the nation had been demanding the restoration of the old pension system after the National Pension System was introduced in 2004. 

Since the NPS is currently in effect in most Indian states, people are aware about it to an extent. However, not many know about the OPS and how it differs from NPS.
