This budget was traditionally presented at 5.00 pm on the last day of February but was later amended to presenting the same at 11.00 am in 2001. Furthermore, the Union Budget was earlier presented on the last working day of the month of February from the time of our independence till 2016. This tradition was also changed and was presented on 1st February from the year 2017 by the then Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley.
Therefore, now the official Union Budget date is the 1st day of February of every calendar year. The budget is then approved in the Parliament and implemented in the following financial year starting from April 1st.
