Ex Dividend Date

When any Mutual Fund scheme declares dividend, it’s NAV drops by the same amount as the dividend declared. This fall is seen on the following business day of dividend declaration. Ex-Dividend Date is the day on which the mutual fund NAV has dropped by the same amount as dividend declared.

How does it work?

For instance, Suppose a fund’s NAV is 200 before dividend declaration and the scheme declares a dividend of 20 per unit. The following day when the fund’s NAV falls to 180 is known as the Ex-Dividend Date.
