Effective Date

An IPO can be very lengthy process involving multiple important stages and dates. The effective date is an important date to be noted by IPO investors.

The effective date is the date when the newly registered shares or the securities of a company are made available to the public for sale. The issuer and the company underwriters decide the price band for the issue and the quantity to be offered under the IPO before the effective date.
